The KFC vs. Chicken Inn debate is one Kenyan chicken lovers keep having, with everyone swearing by their favorite. We tested it instead of arguing it. We priced matching items at both brands, tasted the same meal at each and checked how each one delivers. Chicken Inn costs less and serves juicier chicken, KFC makes better chips and both charge KSh 150 for delivery.
KFC vs Chicken Inn Prices: Same Items Side by Side
To keep the comparison fair, we priced both menus at branches in the same area, Westlands in Nairobi, on 2nd November, 2026. The two brands do not sell identical products, so we matched the items that come closest.
| Item | Chicken Inn (KSh) | KFC (KSh) | Cheaper | Gap (KSh) |
| 1 piece of chicken | 250 | 300 | Chicken Inn | 50 |
| 4 wings | 490 | 550 | Chicken Inn | 60 |
| Regular chips | 190 | 300 | Chicken Inn | 110 |
| Minute Maid | 160 | 200 | Chicken Inn | 40 |
| 2L Coca-Cola | 370 | 350 | KFC | 20 |
| 2-piece combo with chips | 549 | 800 | Chicken Inn | 251 |
| Total basket | 2,009 | 2,500 | Chicken Inn | 491 |
The wings are Chicken Inn’s BBQ wings against KFC’s Hot & Spicy Zinger wings. The combo is Chicken Inn’s 2 pieces, 3 nuggets and regular chips against KFC’s 2 pieces, 3 hot wings, small chips and a 350ml soda.

In the KFC vs Chicken Inn price round, Chicken Inn won five of the six rows and cost KSh 491 less across the basket, roughly 20% cheaper. The combo drives much of that gap, and the two combos are not identical, since KFC’s includes a soda. Without the combo row, Chicken Inn still came in KSh 240 cheaper, at KSh 1,460 against KSh 1,700. KFC won only the 2L Coca-Cola, by KSh 20, while its regular chips cost KSh 110 more than Chicken Inn’s.
Taste Test: 3-Piece Meals Compared
For the taste test, we ordered the closest matching meals: Chicken Inn’s 3-Piecer and KFC’s Streetwise 3. Both come with 3 pieces of chicken and regular chips. The 3-Piecer costs KSh 599 and includes a free 500ml soda, water or 400ml energy drink, and we picked Coke. The Streetwise 3 costs KSh 700 and comes with no drink, so Chicken Inn costs KSh 101 less before you count the drink.
Chicken Inn’s chicken was fresh inside with a brown crust, and it had no dryness or stringy texture. It was tender, juicy and well-seasoned, which gave it a deep flavor. Its chips were thick and short, crispy outside and soft inside.

KFC’s pieces were also fresh with a brown crust, well seasoned and flavourful. Its chips were thinner and lighter, crispy and soft as you chewed them, and they tasted better than Chicken Inn’s.

| Chicken Inn 3-Piecer | KFC Streetwise 3 | Winner | |
| Price | KSh 599, free drink included | KSh 700, no drink | Chicken Inn |
| Chicken | Tender, juicy, deep flavor | Fresh, well-seasoned, good flavor | Chicken Inn |
| Chips | Thick and short | Thin, light and crisper | KFC |
Chicken Inn wins on the meat because it was juicier and its flavor went deeper. KFC wins the chips because they were lighter, crisper and better balanced. Both brands seasoned their pieces well, so the gap comes down to juiciness. This reflects one meal at one branch each, so your own plate may differ.
Home Delivery: Apps and Coverage
Both brands bring the meal to your door, and the routes look alike. KFC delivers through its own app and website, as well as Glovo and Uber Eats. Chicken Inn delivers through its own app, which runs on Android and iPhone, and through Glovo and Uber Eats.
Coverage works the same way for both. Each brand delivers only from branches near you, which means Nairobi and its outskirts and other major towns with a branch. Outside those areas, you need to visit a branch yourself.
To compare delivery costs, we added the same 3-piece meal to the cart in each brand’s own app, with delivery set to Westlands.

| Chicken Inn app | KFC app | |
| Meal | 3-Piecer with regular chips and a free drink | Streetwise 3 with regular chips |
| Meal price | KSh 599 | KSh 700 |
| Delivery fee | KSh 150 | KSh 150 |
| Service fee | KSh 0 | KSh 0 |
| Order total | KSh 749 | KSh 850 |
In the KFC vs Chicken Inn delivery round, the fees tied but the totals did not. Both apps charged KSh 150 to deliver and priced the meal at the same figure we paid in store, so delivery left the price gap untouched: the Chicken Inn order came to KSh 101 less and included a drink. The fee adds about 25% to the Chicken Inn meal and about 21% to the KFC one, so collecting the meal yourself saves KSh 150 at either brand.
KFC vs Chicken Inn: Which Should You Pick?
Anyone watching their budget gets more for their money at Chicken Inn: KSh 491 less across our basket and KSh 101 less for the 3-piece meal, which also includes a drink. The same brand wins for juicy chicken. Chips fans should head to KFC, where the chips were lighter and crisper. For delivery, either brand works, since both use their own app and Glovo and both stop where their branches stop.
Overall, the KFC vs Chicken Inn contest goes to Chicken Inn on price and chicken, to KFC on chips and ends level on delivery.
